Hi everyone, I’m Tom Xi. I’m from Shanghai, China. Shanghai is a city that has downtown areas looks like downtown area of New york city or London Or Tokyo in case you don’t have a clue how “big” is the “big city” Shanghai; it’s not big in size, but morden. The interesting history about Shanghai is, around 300 years ago, shanghai was a very small city in china that people hardly know it exicted. It Belongs to a city that now belongs to shanghai. Shanghai became bigger and famous because it quick development and that’s because of where shanghai located. Shanghai located right in the connection of the biggest river in China (the Forth biggest river in the world) and the pacific ocean, and because of it’s location, foreign country build there embassies during the second World War, and that opened a window for shanghai to the world.
I love to play badminton for sport, and i play a few musical insturments as well. My favorate suject in the school are math and science/ music.
My name is Ben Fiorillo. I live in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Two historical aspects of Shrewsbury are: Artemis Ward, a general in the Revolutionary War, lived in Shrewsbury, and George Washington, the commanding general of American forces in the Revolutionary War, visited the Farrar Tavern in Shrewsbury. I enjoy playing the piano and I love to read books on war history. My favorite subject in school is history, because I enjoy learning about the devlopments that have led to where we are today.
My name is Sarah Dunn. I am from Shrewsbury,Massachusetts. There are some very interesting historical happenings that occured in Shrewsbury,Massachusetts. One thing is that Samuel Wheelock built the first water mill on Old Mill road in Shrewsbury and this was a large industrial accomplishment at the time in 1721.Another historical fact about Shrewbury is that during the Revolutionary War,general Henry Knox, a famous general in this war, spend a cold and bitter night on Shrewsbury Common in 1776,as he and his troops were planning to move cannons 300 miles from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston the next day. I enjoy being a ski instructor in the winter and play field hockey and lacrosse as well as play the piano. My favorite subject in school is history, but especially American history.
My name is Eric Paradis.I am from Auburn, Massachusetts. There are various things in history that Auburn is recognized for, but the main historical event was on March 16, 1926 when Robert H. Goddard launched the first liquid-fueled rocket out of his Aunt Effie’s farm. Today there is a memorial park dedicated to him which is located next to our town fire department. Going further back into history I learned how my town came to be established. Auburn, called Ward back then, was officially incorporated in honor of American Revolution General Artemas Ward in the year 1778. The town was later renamed Auburn in the year 1837. Some of my hobbies include playing sports, particularly soccer and lacrosse, and mountain biking. My favorite subject in school this year is chemistry, more generally science.
My name is Lindsay Yeoh. Some of my hobbies include singing songs and playing instruments, such as violin, piano, flute, etc. My favorite subject in school this year is music. I am from Seoul, Korea. In Korea, Seoul is considered as a very busy city that contains a lot of buildings and traffic. However, there are many places to go in Seoul, such as Kang-Nam station, Shin-Chun station, Myung-Dong, Dong-Dae-Moon, etc. These are the places that are available for shopping, movies, etc.
Hi, my name is Alex Dillaire. I am from Worcester, Massachusetts. Worcester is known for many things, one beingthe invention of the smiley face used by Wal-Mart, and another is the fact that Worcester is the birthplace for the American Industrial Revolution. My hobbies are normally playing Square Enix games and watching anime on the computer. My favorite subject is any science, and this year is Chemistry.
2 Alex: Can you show me a picture of the smiley face used by Wal-Mart, I don’t know how it looks like.
2 Lindsay: What are Kang-Nam station, Shin-Chun station, Myung-Dong, and Dong-Dae-Moon? Are they temples? Are they shopping malls?
2 Eric: Is the rocket related to the “October Sky”?
2 Ben: Who is Farrar Tavern? Why does George Washington visit him? Did Farrar Tavern originally live in Shrewsbury, or did he just happen to be there?
2 Sarah: Is the Water Mill built upon Blackstone river?
1.) Tom, the Farrar Tavern was a place in Shrewsbury where you could stop to eat and rest. George Washington was passing through Shrewsbury and decided to rest there.
2.) Alex, what is a Square Enix game?
3.) Lindsay, how many instruments do you play?
4.) Sarah, I believe that Henry Knox is buried in the Shrewsbury cemetery. I am not sure, but I think I saw a gravestone with his name on it. By the way, how long have you been playing piano?
5.) Quishi Yin (Josh), can you give give me a name for one of the foods that you eat in Beijing? I would like to try it.
1.) Tom, as I mentioned before, Kang-Nam station, Shin-Chun station, Myung-Dong, and Dong-Dae-Moon are not temples. They are places that are available for shopping, movies, etc.
2.) Ben, I play 5 instruments, and they are the piano, violin, flute, drums, and harmonica.
3.) Sarah, how long have you been playing field hockey?
4.) Alex, what kind of anime do you like to watch?
5.) Eric, what made you want to start mountain biking?
Tom, I don’t believe the Water Mill was built upon the Blackstone River because the Blackstone River doesn’t run through Shrewsbury, but that was a good guess!:)
Ben, I’ve been playing piano for about 7 years now and that’s really cool that you saw a gravestone in Shrewsbury’s cemetary with Henry Knox’s name written on it.
Lindsey, I’ve only been playing field hockey for 3 years now, two years in middle school and last year as a freshman.
Alex, do play any sports? what are they?
Eric, where do you like to mountain bike and how long have you been playing lacrosse?
Tom, I don’t think the rocket is related to the “October Sky.” Goddard’s rocket was built in 1926 and the movie was made a few years later, but I can see the connection you are getting at.
Lindsay, I wanted to start mountain biking a few years ago when I just randomly started riding through the woods. From there I just got into riding on trails and down hills. I actually don’t go on big mountains and ride down them but I just like to ride off road.
Sarah, I usually ride around the woods near my house, but when I go up to my uncle’s house he has a trail in the back of his house so I like to ride there. Also, I have been playing lacrosse for four years since sixth grade here at WA.
